His and Hearse

One of the hearses at the HearseCon in Denver

My husband Ben, friends Robb, Lynn, Marshal and myself, drove down to Denver Colorado to join in HearseCon. Robb had been there before and told us stories of fantastic looking hearses and interesting, crazy hearse people. We had to go!
It was a very good time had by all. The first afternoon was the meet and greet in a park where they played a game involving funeral flags. Later, we went to some unmentionable Mexican restaurant that was set up like an adult Chuckie Cheese but had way more “cheese” and you felt like doing a chuckie in the toilet. My stomach took a couple of days to recover. After supper we returned to the parking lot to gawk at everybody else’s hearse.
The next day it was breakfast at IHop restaurant which we don’t have in Canada. Yummy pancakes to pile on top of the bad Mexican food. Then it was show and shine at the parking lot of a popular lounge. 51 hearses showed up from around the US and 3 hearses from Canuck land.

Zach with his hearse Alexi and our hearse Nocturna

The next day was the wrap-up at Riverside Cemetery where we had a potluck picnic. It was a very relaxing time and of course I ate too much. I took at least 80+ pics at the cemetery and said goodbye to new friends. Promising of course, we would see each other next year.
The man who runs HearseCon is Zach – Zachary Helm from Engelwood, Colorado. He is a wonderful host and took us shopping on our last day there. I bought some great high heel zombie shoes.
The weather in Colorado was beautiful, and driving back to Alberta, we ended up being followed by a tornado and flash flood weather in Montana. But Nocturna drove great and we returned safe and hearse-obsessed.  You can view more HearseCon pics at this link:

I Love Cemeteries & This One’s a Beauty

Riverside Cemetery in Denver, Colorado, is a beautiful collection of memorial statues, wild grasses and gnarled, dead trees. We were at the cemetery because of the Denver HearseCon. We celebrated the last day having a picnic there.

The spirits that showed up really appreciated our group having a potluck picnic there. The one female spirit commented that she wished more people would come and do this. Another spirit talked about the wind and how it was usually windy there most of the time.

The peace and beauty of the cemetery created a special day and an appreciation of life. Here’s a link to the album:

Scary???? You Bet

Paul Sveen's Comedy Class Students

I deal with the paranormal almost everyday and I don’t think of it as a scary thing like most people do. However, I did venture into something really scary in the last month and a half – stand-up comedy. Yes. I blame my inactivity on this blog on stand-up. It’s very different going on stage and talking about strange and true things that have happened to you that are funny, rather than talking about paranormal experiences. It’s fun and exhilarating.

Also the parade season has started here in Alberta. My husband and I and our hearses and friends have been in 3 parades so far.  Parades are not scary; we might look scary. We are representing The Paranormal Explorers, dEdmonton, and the Edmonton Bonewagon Association.

Stand-up comedy can definitely be something out of your comfort level. I am hoping to incorporate my paranormal experiences into some comedy sets. I am not sure how, but I’m going to try. Unfortunately, I have not had the time to contact people who need our help, so I apologise to everyone who has written or phoned.

Here is a short documentary that was made of the stand-up comedy class I was in. I am the one talking about women peeing. Scary-Funny???

We All Got the Mojo

Let me explain how people see, hear or feel spirits. EVERYONE is PSYCHIC. Really, no kidding around. It’s from our caveman days. It’s our intuition, what kept us alive with all the dangers that were out there. We all have the capabilities to experience paranormal activity. But not everyone wants to and with some people they have their 6th sense blocked or closed off from day one. That’s okay.

I have found that very adamant skeptics are usually ones who will not go into a dark basement or a dark area that is supposed to be haunted. Are they scared of the dark? No. They are scared of the unknown. It’s a natural human reaction.

I have tried to get people who said they didn’t believe in ghosts to come with me into some creepy buildings or rooms and for some reason they say “I don’t need to go in there, nothing is going to happen anyway”. When I press them to go into to prove to them there are spirits inside, they have stated flat-out: “I don’t want to”.

There have been a couple of times when I played an especially creepy EVP (electronic voice phenomena) recordings to people who laughingly said, “Okay, let’s hear the ghost”. When you listen to something that’s not a physical being talk, scream or growl, you know that it’s not a live human. This one fellow’s face turned from a patient humoring one into someone who just saw Godzilla go by.  He said: “I don’t want to hear any more!!”. You know he’s not going to be talking to ghosts any time soon.

Here is a breakdown of how we receive the spirit energies:

1. CLAIRVOYANCE is when a person sees the spirit or knows who or what it is. Clairvoyance is the ability to see beyond the 5 senses like past or future events, spirits and other supernatural happenings. There are 2 ways a person has clairvoyance:

Objective clairvoyance is when a person is capable of literally seeing spirit entities that are unseen by others with their physical eyes. This is very uncommon.

Subjective clairvoyance is when a person sees entities, images, symbols and words in their mind. It can be a very quick and instantaneous impression.  It may occur with the eyes open or closed. It can come spontaneously or can be achieved through meditation. This is the predominant clairvoyance that people have.
2. CLAIRAUDIENCE is when the person hears the spirit speak. Sometimes it’s heard inside the head; sometimes it’s spoken aloud to them.
3. CLAIRSENTIENCE is when the medium senses the presence, thoughts and feelings of the spirit.

I’m sure smelling the spirits should come under its own category, but I’m not sure what that would be called. Because if you smell sulphurous farts or lavender perfume and you are the only one in the house, either your meal didn’t go very good with you or someone unseen just dropped in to test your sensory skills.

You Can’t See Them But We All Have Them

I received a phone call today from a woman whose house I had previously cleared of earthbound spirits. She was excited about a video she had. The video depicts lots of spirit orbs flying around in her house. She wanted me to come over to her house to see the video stating “you’re not going to believe what you see”.

I appreciated the fact that she wanted me to see the video and that there was a lot of spirit activity on it. The thing that this lady and many others don’t realise is that The Paranormal Explorers (my husband Ben and I) have 20+ videos with incredible spirit activity on them. The fact is in everyone’s home there is always a spirit or two drifting in and out of it.
In my own house we have set up the infrared video system and have Grand Central Station in the living room. Lots and lots of spirit orbs flying around. Nothing scary, just part of what the universe is about. If we could see what is actually around us in the metaphysical way, it would probably assault our mental faculties to the point where we would go crazy. This does not mean my house or other places are haunted. It just means lifestyle, psychic energies, and other factors attract free spirits to pop in and take a peek at what you’re doing.
Most of the time, I can see little wisps of things flying by while I sit in the living room watching TV. I have never had any negative spirits in my house, never anything scary happen. Just the usual spirit imitating my husband’s voice calling me, TV turning on and off, noises like items crashing down, things going missing and then reappearing or never appearing at all.
I try to explain to the people to whose place I go to investigate that there isn’t anything to be afraid of. When we set up the infrared video, the majority of the homes have spirit activity appear immediately on camera. When the homeowners view this, most seem to have a spiritual epiphany or awakening. It’s gratifying to see. Lots of “oooooos” and “ahhhhhhs” and excited “oh, look at that one” and “oh my god that’s incredible”. It allays their fears and creates understanding of the ‘unknown’.
And some of these spirits like being on camera. Cheeeeeeese.

Excuse Me, You Have a Boa Constrictor In Your Vent

Ben and I went to a townhouse in December of 2009 where 2 young women lived. They were experiencing objects falling into the shower while they were in it. Like someone was pushing the shampoo and soap in to the bathtub. The garbage can in the kitchen fell over by itself; sounds of some type of furniture being dragged across the floor upstairs; electricity crackling sounds, and “something” ate a piece out of a roast of chicken one night.

A lot of times people will tell us they can hear a crackling sound like electricity running. Almost like unbridled spirit energy. The women knew something was upstairs and that they were being watched all the time. Whatever was up there, they wanted it gone.

I went upstairs where the bathroom and bedrooms were. A young male spirit appeared, very nervous, about 16-17 years old. He said his name was Robert and he was dressed in farm work clothes that looked like they were from the 1920’s. He told me “My ma would take the switch to me if she knew what I’d been doing.” He was referring to watching the ladies in the bathroom, and in their bedrooms. He had never had a girlfriend or any experience seeing women naked. So he was enjoying himself immensely! I was picking up that he had caught a bad strain of the flu and died from it.

He was the one pushing items into the bathtub. I assumed he also had knocked over the garbage can and taken a piece of chicken. He told me he did not do those things. Okay, so now I’m wondering if there is another spirit I haven’t picked up on yet.

I told him he needed to go into the light and be with his family, explaining they won’t be angry at you for doing those things. He smiled and walked off into the light.

I stayed sitting on the rug in the hallway and picked up energy signals from a bedroom in front of me that was dark and empty of furniture. Just then, a picture emerged of a 10 foot boa constrictor that was on the floor of the darkened bedroom. I realised that this creature was probably the one that knocked over the garbage can and took a chunk out of the roast chicken. Communications of course were very limited with the snake and I asked for help to get it into the light. An ethereal being came out and carried the boa constrictor into the light. Really an amazing sight.

I went downstairs to tell the women what I found in their townhouse but before I told them, I asked if they had ever heard anything slithering through their vent system. They looked at each other with a surprised expression and said they had heard noises in the vents at odd times when it wasn’t the heat. I told them about the young man and the snake and said the snake was probably all over the townhouse but they would never have seen it. The dragging noise upstairs was probably from the snake too, bumping into furniture and moving it around.  Thankfully they were both gone so there was nothing to be afraid of.

I don’t know where the boa constrictor ever came from; maybe someone in the neighbourhood had one in the past. Or maybe at one time it had lived in that very townhouse. Who can know for sure? That was my first ghost snake. What next? A dinosaur would be interesting. Hmm.

Never Negate a Necromancer

nec·ro·man·cy : The practice of supposedly communicating with the spirits of the dead in order to predict the future; Black magic or sorcery; Magic qualities. Bringing up the dead for nefarious reasons.

I was doing a spirit removal in a dicey neighborhood where gangs, crime and drugs happen. If that didn’t make it uncomfortable enough, I found out the ex-boyfriend of this woman, whose house we were in, had gotten out of jail six weeks previous. He apparently was extremely violent with her and to top it all off, was a practicing necromancer. Oh boy. Who knows what kind of spooky crap we were going to find.

The basement of this house had a corner which had some picture that was painted over. It was supposed to be of an occult nature. There was also a picture of Jesus that had some nasty things done to it. Nooses had been found in the eaves of the basement. That is where this man would practice his necromancy.

My husband Ben hooked up the infrared system and had a camera in the basement and in the upstairs hallway. The hallway had some orb activity. I made my way to the basement to pick up on the spirits and see if I could remove them.

Proceeding down the stairs, the energies were very strong. It was negative, heavy and cloying down there. I took a few pictures around the area and then decided to get down to business. Immediately I picked up on a bizarre sight: 2 men and 2 women dressed in office clothing, holding hands and chanting in a circle. They were in their late twenties to their early thirties. The men had on shirts, ties and dress pants, one woman had her hair in a ponytail, a white blouse and black skirt with heels. The other woman had a blouse and pants outfit. It really confused me for a second. I was expecting them to have ceremonial clothing on.

As I was preparing to send them into the light, they broke the circle, still holding hands in a line together. They started moving towards me and their faces became monstrous with snarling and screaming and huge pointed teeth. They didn’t get very far before a higher power reached out and grabbed the hand of the one closest to the light and pulled them in. They were absolutely stunned as they went in.

There were other energies still in the basement. Behind the basement staircase which was an open one, was a male spirit who was scared and was covered in black fur like the Wolf Boys from Mexico. His eyes glowed red. He said he was scared of the 4 spirits. I asked him if he would go into the light and he said yes, he would. I watched him go. Then one more spirit appeared in the opposite corner of the basement, near the laundry machines. She was a very small woman with brown curly hair and a floral dress that looked like it was from the ’60’s. She told me she was a mitochondrial dwarf. I said “Okay” and asked her to go to the light which she did willingly. I know it sounds wild, but take my word for it, all these spirits were actually there in that basement.

I always know when the portal closes because the dark room gets illuminated for a second and there’s a buzzing between my eyes. I assume that is my third eye doing that. Anyway, I went upstairs and told the lady of the house and she confirmed that she did see something “creepy” under the staircase that had red eyes and was very black. She was relieved the other spirits were gone. She had a pagan guardian who cleansed her basement for her after the clearing.

Many, many weeks later, the lady whose house we had cleared phoned and had the necromancer books that her boyfriend had used. We went over and picked them up from her. She understandably didn’t want them around. So I have them on my bookshelf now for reference in case we run into another necromancing nincompoop.
